One friend of mine adviced me to search a movie called "無米樂"(Even happy without harvesting).
I didn't watch that movie right away when I got it, since it's a documentary film, and I was afraid it will make us fall asleep.
After finishing waching, on the contrary, we are all impressived by the story. Actually, the movie story taught me a lot of lessens.
First of all, I never saw the process of plowing by a cattle. Nowadays, farmers use machine to plow their fields. I'm very surprised that the cattle is so toilsome in the past. There is no wonder, my grandparant didn't allow me to eat beef.
Second, the director emphasized the relationship between the country people very much; especially the elder couple. Although the elder have quarrel everyday, they still care about and deeply love each other. Squabbling over a mere trifle is the important way they communicate with. When I saw the elder couple fightting for trivial things, I laughed and thought about my grandparant, because they just live as their funny way.??
Third, the movie told us the most important thing--treasure the every single rice we have. Every grain cost a farmer whole year to grow. And farmers can't make it be harvested if the weather is terrible or encounter severe Typhoons. Farmers work everyday and no holiday exception even though they could be busy in vain. The personality of farmers could be including hard-working, thrify, hoest, and believing in fate. As a result, they never complain anyone and anything. Since the policy of entering WTO had been made by our government, they earned less and less money. However, they enjoy their life.
While the new generation are daydreaming about being wealthy or marrying to a wealthy man, there are many conservative people making one doller step by step. I really respect the farmers on this land. They brought the prosperity for early Taiwn, but even today's Taiwan is not an agriculture society anymore, we shouldn't forget their contribution.
I'm
appreciated the people who produced the nice film. You did teach
me a lot lot lot...
